Fine Watercolour by British Georgian painterBenjamin Barker the Younger (1776-1838).Description: Listed for auction is an appealing Georgian watercolour by Benjamin Barker the Younger depicting travellers on a mountain road in a lightly wooded landscape with coastline and ocean in the distance. The painting has a strong provenance, purchased as one of a number of watercolours from Lot 198, Moore, Allen & Innocent Auction House 16th April 2010. The painting is illustrated in the catalogue. It is unsigned, but comes from the family of the artist by direct decent (the artist's great, great, great granddaughter). Artist: Benjamin Barker The Younger, English, (1776-1838). Benjamin was the younger brother of Thomas Barker of Bath. Primarily a landscape painter he exhibited at the Royal Academy, The British Institute, and the Society of Watercolourists between 1800-1838. His work is represented in a number of public collections in England and the US, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Holburne Gallery, and the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath, The Brighton Hove Museum, The Bristol Art Gallery, and the UK Government Collection amongst others.
