This is a guaranteed original 1st print & one of my favourite US posters!! This poster advertises a concert at THE ARK in Sausalito California on October 6th 1967. Featured artists on that night where 'Big Brother and the Holding Company' (with Janis Joplin) and 'Jack & the Ripper'. The Ark previously an old tugboat, was located in the bay-front town of Sausalito. During the early psychedelic period The Ark was distinguished as an after-hours hangout for bands playing around the SF bay area. Bands would slip over to Sausalito after their gigs and play an after-hours set and then crash nearby. Amongst those using this club as a rehearsal site for new numbers where Moby Grape, Big Brother, The Steve Miller Band & Santana. The poster artist is unknown but it bears the printers credit line: 'C 1967 PORTAL PUBLICATIONS LTD. - LITHO U.S.A.' Size: 16" x 22" Condition: Excellent with no tears or blemishes. All edges and corners are sharp and clean. The only minor issues are a few pin holes in the corners and two minor tape pulls on the reverse side at the bottom corners. The colours on the imagery remain clear, bright and unfaded....a superb piece!! .........and the 'small-print'!!
