This early cream pot or crock sporting a great WHITE'S bird facing left and takes up almost the whole front of this early 1800's piece of American stoneware. Signed WHITE AND CO., BINGHAMTON with a slip trail 3 for 3 gallons. The great signature bird facing left is rare! On the typical fern branch and squiggles. It is without any fry, lots of dots on the chest and a wonderful, long fan tail. It has a few insignificant rim chips around - nothing to detract from this outstanding piece. It has what appears to be a glaze crack about a couple inches long near the base as shown. It is so tight that it probably doesn't show in the pictures but mentioned for clarity. The piece is from a Maine home on the Down East coast and has not been on the market before. It needs a good washing and the dust and cobwebs removed from the inside. Bid with confidence. Nothing hiding on this great piece. 11 1/4" high and 11" across the top and 7 3/4" across the base. It begs a prestigious collection.Do look carefully at the pictures. I try to describe and to picture all and any flaws so you know what you are bidding on. The pictures are considered a part of the description.
