The Owls are at it again on this sweet tile created by Leanne Blake Pizio in Oak Ridge, NC. The piece features two owls, guarding the night sky. To make this piece, Leanne first rolled out a quarter-inch thick slab of a white clay. The piece was then covered with a black clay paint called slip. Leanne then used a process called "sgraffito" to carve away the back slip to reveal the white clay underneath. After firing, Leanne added wire for hanging, and beads that add a bit of color. This piece measures 4 1/8 x 3 3/8 inches. The bottom is signed "l pizio 15". All pieces by Leanne are lead-free, oven and microwave safe. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
