Bleriot XI – WW1 French Military Historical Pioneer – 1/72 The first Bleriot XI was designed and built by French engineer Louis Bleriot in 1909. He flew the XI across the English Channel on June 25, 1909 – the first man to cross the channel in an airplane. He took off from a small base near Calais , France and landed near Dover , England in 36.5 minutes. The XI was the first airplane to serve during military operations – it was flown by Captain Carlo Piazza on October 23, 1911 during the Italo-Turkish War. The type was used extensively by the French and British in WW1 and may also have been used by Belgium and Russia . This is Eastern Express kit #72219, made in Russia in 1/72 –scale. The kit consists of a series of light-gray aircraft parts including one sitting and one standing figure. A decal sheet is included with decals for French and Russian aircraft. The 4-page instruction sheet is written in Russian and English and includes a brief history of the XI, 12 illustrated build steps, 3-view drawings, and decal information. The parts are unbagged, but all are present and intact. The box is in very good condition. I am including some information sheets I copied from the Internet.
