This auction is for a beautiful Bordallo Pinheiro Majolica lidded soup tureen and underplate in the Cauliflower pattern. This is the only Cauliflower piece produced by the company. The Cauliflower set consist of a cabbage pattern tureen bowl with a cauliflower lid, and caulifower pattern plate. This plate is made specifically for this tureen - as it is the only cauliflower plate produced. This is not the typical cabbage plate. Both the tureen bowl, and underplate are signed. The lid has a notch for a ladle, and a piece of cauliflower for the handle. All three pieces are in absolutely mint condition with the exception of some crazing on the underplate only. The plate measures 13" across, and the tureen measures about 13" across the lower row of spread leaves. This is a rare piece of Majolica from Portugal. The tureen is very hard to find.
