British P.1853 socket bayonet for the Enfield and Snider rifle.Made at the Enfield Factory.It was made w/ round fullers fullers.The flat ricasso of the blade shows Enfield inspection markings (E over a Crown over 30).The front top of the socket is stamped '28 over 195',the unit number of 'The 28th Perth Battalion of Infantry',a Canadian unit.C/w an appropriate P.1853,later Type post1866) Snider-Enfield scabbard w/ leather body and brass mounts.The top upper front part of the locket was modified and t is no frog stud.Nice patina!The British War Department acceptance marking,'WD' below the 'Broad Arrow'.,is very faintly stamped on the front upper part of the leather body.The sewing is complete.No gaps.These items were worn and saw uses but remain in a fine collectible condition!!!
