Burgess Roye (1944-2015) Ponca Tribe, Pawnee, Oklahoma. Incredibly precise painting of Native man and woman with p eace pipe. Signed lower right edge. Gouache (tempera) on beige artist's board. 18.5" x 10." There are couple of marks on the board by the sun.(see photos) Painting is gorgeous. Burgess Roye was born in 1944 in Pawnee, Oklahoma in the Ponca tribe. Known as both a poet and an artist, his media includes oil, watercolor, tempera, graphite and prints. Burgess Roye is the brother of the artist Paladine Roye.
