**STUNNING** C1880 12K ROSE GOLD & GF AMETHYST EXPANSION BANGLE
This is a STUNNING C1880 Victorian 12k Gold Expansion Bangle Bracelet with a gorgeous LARGE brilliant cut Amethyst stone...this is flanked by beautiful white Spinel known as the "Victorian Diamond" and the gorgeous setting has large REPOUSSE VINE leaves with berries scrolls. The band is SOLID not hollow and is a TRUE ROSE GOLD COLOR .. the front medallion is rose gold with a yellow gold background a beautiful and eyecatching contrast ! This is a very old piece and is small and will fit a MULTITUDE of wrists due to its UNIQUE expansion method and these are known as SWIVEL bangles.. I have not had one in a long time..and the last one I sold was used as a Wedding Bangle. To open it ..it swivels sideways and i have taken a couple of pictures to try and show how it opens . The photos were taken in bright sunlight.. and they look a bit brassy in color. HISTORY This is Circa 1880 by its design and styling... This antique bangle is extremely collectable and highly sought after, as these were very popular in Victorian times . You often see tintypes of Victorian Ladies wearing similar bangles in portrait photos. This is a RARE find due to the large bezel set amethyst and also the gorgeous White Spinel and repousse scrolls and VIne Leaves with berries ..very Art Nouveau .. It has that wonderful antique pink rose gold color band with the front medallion being an antique soft yellow with rose gold embellishments ..you will be hard pressed to find another like this one....just a unique and beautiful heirloom from times gone by This would have belonged to a lady of wealth for those times..so fascinating..! Although not stamped for gold content the outer surface tests positive at a minimum of 12 karat gold. And it is a gold shell band with a rolled gold centerpiece.. Just in wonderful antique condition ! . It is stamped inside S & W which is the makers mark. DESCRIPTION & SIZING It is a SOLID bangle that slides over the wrist , and is an expansion style or swivel style... And t are no dents or dings and it is just truly stunning.. These old stone set bracelets command very high book prices on antique websites that range from the mid to very high hundreds..and this one is no exception.. The front centerpiece has beautiful carvings and measures from scroll edges just under 1 7/8" in length by just 5/8" in width, and the band measures 3/16"... The band is SOLID NOT HOLLOW and will withstand a good deal of punishment . The Amethyst stone is Emerald Cut and measure just under 1/2" long by 1/4" wide and is approx 5 carats ..It is set in a rose gold bezel setting and is the same color as part of the vine leaves and berries..and the outer scrolls are yellow gold in color .. Such a beautiful contrast ... I was informed the stone is an Amethyst and it is in wonderful condition for its age and have a beautiful deep purple hue .... FANTASTIC! T are two white spinel flanking the Amethyst.. but they could also be small diamonds as they have magnificent sparkle..but i think spinel as it was used often in these times and was called the "Victorian Diamond" . It has no clasps to worry about..it simply slips over the wrist ..very safe and secure . It measures just under 7" inside with an extra 1 1/2" expansion to slip over the wrist., and is in Keeping with Victorian times , and would fit a wrist from 5" - 6 3/4" I have a 6 1/2" wrist and it fits beautifully .. . This is a beautiful looking piece when worn. . . This is a MUST for the collector of UNIQUE Victorian gold bangles or amethyst collector.. Please note that the photos appear washed rather brassy and do not reflect the beauty of this piece ..it is much prettier in person! I take all my photos outdoors for accuracy ..You can check this in my feedback.I do receive a lot of comments that the item is much nicer when received.. T appears to be some dark shadows in the photos which are seen on the edges of this gorgeous old piece, but it is just reflection in the camera ..and the gorgeous ant...
