This is a fabulously detailed sandpaper or marble dust drawing of some cows drinking in a river with clouds and mountains in the background and trees in the foreground. It's most probably a Hudson River scene, which is typical for these school girl drawings. The charcoal drawing is painted on sandpaper or marble dust board and is in excellent condition (see photos of drawing out of frame). The painting is framed in an old gilt frame -- it may even be a lemon gold frame, though I'm not sure. It has newer glazing or glass, which seems to be "muting" the crispness of the image. I think it would benefit from replacing with a clearer pure glass, such as an historic wavy glass.Overall the condition of this painting is excellent for its age. Note that any flash or reflection in the glass you see is from me. The frame has some scrapes as well as gaps at the joints, but still shows beautifully. The live area of the drawing is 17" x 13". The outside frame measures 19 ¼" x 15 ¼".
