Signed cardstock with Nathaniel Hawthorne's signature in pencil. Signature is in Very Good condition. Lightest age to the signature, still vibrant. Light soiling to the corners and edges of the card. Light crease at the center of the card. Very Good condition. Cloth boards, rebound. Original cover pasted onto front board, with printed label on spine. Ex-library, with only a minor stamp on the title page, with some ink writing on the bottom. Light chipping and tears to the pages, mainly in the beginning, on the frontispiece, title page, and fly leaves. Light wear to the front board, with some chipping at the illustrations. Frontispiece, with an additional 30 tipped-in full color illustrations. Clean pages with light soiling to the borders.
