Offering a great CDV of the famous American novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804 - 1864). Author of THE SCARLET LETTER which was published in 1850. His ancestors include John Hathorne, the only judge invloved in the Salem witch trials who never repented of his actions. Nathaniel's given last name was "Hathorne" but later added a "w" to make his name "Hawthorne" in order to hide this relation. 2 3/8 X 4". Publisher's mark for E. Anthony on reverse: "Published by/E.
