Caithness Whitefriars Concentric Millifiori Glass Paperweight 1984 Butterfly Description Offered today is a stunning and hard to come by paperweight Caithness Period Whitefriars 1985 Faceted Millefiori Paperweight with Butterfly Cane. circa 1984. This paperweight has three rings of pink and white detailed millefiori around the central cane over a translucent blue ground. The exquisite center cane consists of two rings of pink and white millefiori around a central butterfly silhouette cane. Every millefiori cane in this paperweight is very detailed and complex . It is faceted with one large top facet and six smaller side facets. It is signed and dated on the bottom with the Whitefriars signature cane dated 1984 and a Whitefriar silhouette. Beautifully designed and in lovely condition. This paperweight is one of the transition period paperweights produced after Caithness purchased the Whitefriars name in 1980. NOt sure which factory made it, but most likely Scotland.. It does not appear in any of the Whitefriars catalogs nor in the Colin Terris publications on Caithness.
