These are original issue cloth red maple leaf parachute wings from Canada . The red maple leaf on the parachute badge indicates the individual is jump qualified with a parachute, but is not assigned to an operational Canadian airborne unit. Most U.S. and other foreign parachutists who have earned Canadian Jump wings wear the red maple leaf badge. I obtained this badge in 1986 from Canadian Airborne sources at CFB Petawawa, Ontario. It is in new unworn condition. These wings are not illustrated in Bragg and Turner's books. I am not sure if this style is still being used. The color on the leaf is solid red, but the lighting gives it a strange orange glow.
