HIMBA ANTIQUE HANDCARVED SANGOMO'S MEDICINE FERTILITY FETISH from Namibia Used by the Traditional Healers of the Himba Tribe in the remote North West Kaokoland section of Namibia. This item was acquired in Africa by the present owner in 1985, directly from the Sangomo using it to treat and cast spells on his female child-bearing and maternity patients. This Fetish was originally part of a Sangomo's kit, but he changes the Fetish figures from time to time and was willing to barter this one. Measuring 9" tall x almost 3" wide, the Fetish is beautifully carved with an intricate design unique to the particular Sangomo using it. This wonderful carving, made of locally cut and cured Mung'ongwa timber, has been left untouched. It's dark color comes from a combination of oil curing with a hot blade and hang curing over a smokey fire. It has a warm beautiful patina of many years of service, guaranteeing the health and fertility of Himba women. It has many dings and wear areas, which are simply part of it's character and perhaps it's magic.... On auction with NO RESERVE and a very low initial bid of only $29.95.
