This knife for auction is an ULTRA RARE 1989 issue Case Wharncliff Blade 1st Issue Series Copperhead, 3 7/8" closed, with Case's "Corncob" Jigged Yellowbone (cattle bone) scales. This knife is tang stamped on the master Clip blade with Case XX SS (Lightning SS) USA with 1 Dot, dating this as a 1989 issue Case knife. The shield style is the enclosed Case oval style which is long discontinued for Case natural handle knives. There were 5 varieties of Genuine Bone handles produced of this pattern in quantities of 100 each. The 5 varieties are as follows: Bluebone, Honeybone, Yellowbone, Redbone, and Greenbone. The Special Factory Order Case Wharncliff Trappers Series was the idea of my father, the late Jim Parker. It was his idea for the Wharncliff rear blades to be used with the Case Mini Trappers, Trappers, Copperheads, and Dogleg Trappers.
