CAST IRON LION AND TWO MONKEYS MECHANICAL BANK ANTIQUEThis is the "LION AND TWO MONKEYS" Mechanical Bank. This bank was manufactured by the Kyser & Rex Co. circa 1890's. The bank was patented July 17,1883 by Louis Kyser & Alfred Rex. This is the double peanut variation which is the taller of the two versions. There are no cracks or other damage, however, the paint shows honest ware. To operate, a coin is placed in the right hand of the front monkey. On depressing the lever, the hand and arm of the monkey lowers dropping the coin toward the lion whose mouth opens to receive the coin. As the action takes place, the baby monkey moves upward on to her mother's back and looks down fearlessly at the menacing lion. The bank works and is approximately 9" long, 3 1/2" wide and 9 1/2 tall. Banks with coin traps are becoming increasingly more difficult to find but is included with the "Lion and Two Monkeys" bank being offered here. The key is not included. The bank shows handsomely and will be a welcome addition to any collection. We are Gannon's Antiques and Art in Fort Myers, Florida.
