(JW) Here's a pair of very rare sci-fi fantasy fanzines titled CATALYST #1 dated January, 1943 and CEPHED #2 dated spring, 1946. These early fanzines come from the collection of long-time EC fan, science fiction collector and historian JERRY WEIST. Jerry passed away in January of 2011 and I am selling his EC COMICS, SCIENCE FICTION AND COMIC FANZINE collection and MONSTER MAGAZINES on behalf of his estate. Be sure to keep an eye out every week for my other eBay auctions as we continue to items from the JERRY WEIST estate and also COMIC BOOKS, EC COVER PROOFS, and VAULT KEEPER, DRUSILLA and original FANTASY art every week from the collection of Johnny Craig.CATALYST #1 was edited and published by ED CHAMBERLAIN out of Los Angeles, California and has contributions from Alojo, Joe Gibson, Gord Peck, Forrest J (no period please) Ackerman and Russ Wood. Other than a little bit of rust on the staples, this zine looks like it was never distributed or handled. NEAR MINT CONDITION. CEPHEID #2 was edited and published by MILT LESSER out of Brooklyn New York. Contributions inside are from Lesser, Bob Tucker, Charles Burbee, Bill Stoy and others. Lesser contributes a lengthy article on A. Merritt and Tucker writes an article titled "The Trend Towards Free Fanzines." This copy belonged to Lee Baldwin at one time.
