IMPORTANT HAIR RELIC, SAINT DON BOSCO, NUN'S LOCKET 1885 Submit Best Offer: SAINT DON BOSCO (1815 – 1888): Also Known as John Bosco; Giovanni Bosco; Giovanni Melchior Bosco; John Melchoir Bosco. He was declared Venerable by Pope Pius X, 24 July 1907, and Blessed by Pope Pius XI, 2 June 1929. Ordained in 1841. Bosco worked with youth, finding places w they could meet, play and pray. He taught catechism to orphans and apprentices. He wrote short treatises aimed at explaining the faith to children, and then taught children how to print them. A priest at Turin, he decided to devote his life to neglected orphan boys, and in February, 1842, he formed the Oratory, an association of twenty youths, whose numbers grew rapidly and for whom he built night-schools, technical schools, workshops, and a dormitory. This was the foundation of the Salesian Society, which now cares for thousands of boys all over the world, and was approved by Pope Pius IX in 1874. Bosco also founded the Daughters of Mary, Help of Christians in 1872 and Union of Cooperator of Salesians in 1875.
