Plump CHICKADEES of porcupine quills grace these great birch bark earrings by Paul St John, Mohawk craftsman. The chickadees are made of black dyed porcupine quills with natural white quills also. On each earring a chickadee perches on a green dyed quill evergreen branch. The birch bark quill earrings are a relatively recent new art form by Paul and they have proved very popular!These earrings are about 1.75" long (from top of birchbark to bottom) and 1 1/2" across at bottom. These are handmade and the natural birch bark color, the size etc will vary a bit. These have tidal sweetgrass wrapping the edges of the earrings.You may find chickadees on works by Paul - a sweetgrass/birchbark/quilled basket or a necklace or barrette in this ebay store larger but similar to the cardinals on these earrings.For those of you who have admired Paul's quilled "critters" but have not been able to get a sweetgrass basket with a chickadee on it - Here is an opportunity to have a pair of Paul's quilled chickadees at a more affordable price.Last photo is of Paul with 2 of his other creationsPaul St. John lives in Maine near his mother's family.
