Absolutely stunning, antique Chinese baluster vase. Within a powder blue ground background are several panels which are decorated with foliage and figures. This seems to be a spiritual religious vase based upon the images within the panels which have many Buddhist symbols including the green robe of the woman, the Butterfly, Lotus, Peony and chrysanthemum flowers, little boys one in a red robe, the other yellow- with their hair tied up. I believe that the woman may possibly be Kwan Yin the goddess of compassion as she is frequently shown with children. Because of the double circle marking on the base this vase is believed to be from the 18th century. The enamel paintings within cobalt blue background are gorgeous. Please supersize all for detail. The only flaw I have been able to detect is the small hole cut into the base and normal firing flaws. It measures just shy of 14"H. It is very heavy possibly celadon.
