Chinese late Qing to early Republic period cloisonné enamel double-gourd form lidded ewer decorated with Buddhist lion dogs on opposing sides set against a blue enamel ground. The ewer is formed in three sections (base, handle, and spout) and is composed of standard cloud-form cloisons on a copper substrate with bronze rims. An apocryphal Ming Xuande reign mark is embedded in the counter enamel on the base. Late 19 th to early 20 th century. About 5" wide from handle to spout, 7 1/4" high (to top of finial). Very good overall condition with typical wear and signs of use for its age.
