Civil War Era Confederate Dog Tag ID Tag - No Reserve This item is a bit of a mystery. 1 1/2" wide x 1 5/8" tall copper plate is stamped " 23 - 1861 - CSA - ALA ART - A SLOAN ". It appears to be a Confederate ID tag - either a dog tag or an equipment personal identification tag - for an A. Sloan in the Alabama Artillery. It might possibly be an inspector's tag or contractor tag that was attached to a piece of equipment. Or it could be a fantasy piece. The label that was with it read "Post Civil War Confederate CSA Dog Tag" - for a United Confederate Veteran's reunion? Anyway, buy it, and the mystery is all yours to solve. Item is in dug condition.
