THE CIVIL WAR A Narrative b y Shelby Foote FORT SUMPTER TO PERRYVILLE Published by Random House in 1958 - First Edition - First Printing- Signed by Author This is volume one of Shelby Foote's incredible three volume history of the Civil War going from the causes and beginnings of the war to the first battles and the realization on both sides of the reality of the struggle to come. The book is in good condition; the spine is tight (although cracked at the blank page), and the cover is fairly clean with minor shelf wear including fading and scuffing. The pages are clear and easily readable with minor yellowing. The author's signature is on the blank page after the first title page. There is no dust jacket. The book is about 7" x 10" x 2", 840 pages, and about 3-4 lbs.+/- with packaging.
