As called by the men who used this sword during the Civil War "Old Wristbreaker". If this sword could talk, it would tell you it saw a lot of action. The sword is made by Tiffany & Co. New York. That is on one side of the blade and the other side has P.D.L. You can see along the edge of the blade were it had a few encounters with a another saber. The blade is in very good condition, the tip has a very light pitting about 6"up, not from rust because you can see traces of black which usually is a blood stain. The guard of the hilt-basket is mounted with iron instead of brass. The grips are wood covered with leather which is about 50%. The twisted brass wire is loose, but all their. The scabbard is iron with two rings and had been cleaned a long time ago. The blade measures 35 3/4" and overall is about 41 1/2". The blade at the hilt is 1 1/4" wide. No reserve on the sword. If you have any questions, ask them before you bid. Buyer pays S&H.
