Nice original Autograph CDV Photo of 1864 Civil War CDV of Col. George W. Von Schack of the 7th regiment New York Vol See Ebay Photos 2 1/4 by 4 inches Col. George W. Von Schack34 years old when enrolled July 31, 1861 at New York city. Mustered in as a major on same day to serve two years. Promoted to colonel February 8, 1862. Mustered out with regiment, May8, 1863 at New York city. 36 years old when enrolled into the 7th Veteran Infantry on July 15, 1864 at New York city. Mustered in a Lt. Col. on same day to serve three years. Promoted to colonel on November 2, 1864. Mustered out with regiment August 4, 1865 at Hart's Island.Col. George W. Von Schack was authorized on May6, 1863, to reorganize the 7th regiment and it was again mustered into the U. S. service early in the spring of 1864. For a time before the regimental organization was. complete several companies were attached to the 52nd N. Y., a notable fighting regiment. It was assigned to the 3d brigade, 1st division, 2nd corps and joined the Army of the Potomac before the Wilderness campaign in which it participated through all the weeks of constant fighting leading up to Petersburg.
