With the 50 th anniversary of President John F.Kennedy’s the JFK assassination fast approaching, offered here is a copy of the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper dated Saturday, November 23, 1963. Theheadline reads, “KENNEDY ASSASSINATED; JOHNSON TAKES OATH”. The sub-title reads, “SUSPECT HELD IN MURDER OF PRESIDENT”. The front page above the foldshows a photograph of the president’s motorcade in Dallas. The photo below thefold is the historic image of LBJ taking the oath of office aboard Air ForceOne, as he stands between Lady Bird Johnson and Jackie Kennedy in her long-famouspink dress and pillbox hat. I recall my mother buyingseveral copies of newspapers and magazines after that fateful day half acentury ago and storing them away. The paper has been stored in a plasticsleeve since its publication, and although it has yellowed slightly in its 50years, it is in otherwise pristine condition. I don’t believe that it has everbeen opened.
