THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!!!This is a true religious treasure!! This medal represents the transformation of the Basilica of Guadalupe during 1974 thru 1976! The front is the 'Virgin Mary" aka Virgen De Guadalupe... The back is the actual church with the letter I.N.B.C and the year "1976" it's in a clear plastic case( case has wear) medal is in good condition!!! Basilica of Guadalupe The current church was built on the site of an earlier Church of the sixteenth century. The original image of the Virgin of Guadalupe is now housed in the new Basilica. The construction of a new Basilica started in 1974. On October 12, 1976 was consecrated the new Basilica of Santa Maria de Guadalupe. The building was made from a project of Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, Mexican architect.Our Lady of Guadalupe is an aspect of the Virgin Mary who appeared to St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, an Aztec convert to Roman Catholicism, in 1531. According to the traditional account, Juan Diego was walking between his village and Mexico City on December 12, 1531 when Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared, speaking to him in his native Nahuatl language. She told him to build a church at the site.When Juan Diego spoke to the Spanish bishop, the bishop did not believe him, asking for a miraculous sign to prove his vision's authenticity.
