Hardcover, no dust jacket, 202 pages. 12mo Very good condition: Frontpiece has a photograph of the Rev. Alexander Maclaren. Dark blue blind stamped boards with gold lettering on spine and front cover. Minor shelf wear. Front board has a small amount of rubbing with blotches of color loss from cloth. Previous owner's name on half title page. Pages are lightly age toned. A few pages have some fountain pen marginalia (brackets and lines) and a little underlining, otherwise mostly a clean tightly bound copy free of markings.The illustrious Rev. Alexander Maclaren (1826-1910) was a Baptist minister in Manchester, England. His Sermons were considered some of the most profound of his generation. The present volume includes 14 Sermons, among which: "The Conquering Christ", "Glimpses of the Heart of Jesus", "Gathered in Peace", "Some Reasons why the Word became Flesh", "How a Church Lives and Grows", "Phases of Faith", "Tent and Altar", and "The Forgiving Son of Man".
