is a nice piece of tin lithography from 1916. It is a functioning times table calculator. "CONSUL," THE EDUCATED MONKEY is dressed in a red suit, white shirt and light red bow tie. When his feet move along the slide to point to numbers which are to be multiplied, his hands encircle the answer (product.) The multipliers range from 1 to 12 and the answers up to 144. The clever monkey can even square a number by pointing to a number and the box (square) to the right of the 12. This piece measures about 5 3/8 by 5 3/8 inches, with rounded corners. At the top center it reads PAT. JUNE 27, 1916 . OTHER PATENTS PENDING. Across the bottom, set in a box, is: SET FEET TO POINT AT TWO NUMBERS FINGERS WILL LOCATE THEIR PRODUCT. This piece shows some age. Under bright light, crazing on the monkey can be seen. The upper right-hand corner has a small forward bend. The bottom is a little wavy, but no hard bends or creases.
