Corkscrew - 3 Heim Brewery Pre Prohibition Missouri are three examples of Walker's U. S. Patent Number 501,975 of July 25, 1893. They all have a cast iron bottle opener mounted on the end of the handle. They all advertise Heim Beer, Kansas City, Missouri. Wear to imprint on handles as shown above and below. His brother-in-law gave him a Humason & Beckley corkscrew. That was the beginning of a half century of hunting for corkscrews. Jack worked his whole life as a metallurgist and was granted three patents. His vocation was teaching wine appreciation and he was one of the first candidates to earn the coveted CWE (Certified Wine Educator). From 1989 to 1991 Jack published "Openers". Jack is now 84 years young and has decided it is time to part with his corkscrew collection. He is currently doing extensive worldwide travel and last year he spent two months in Oregon helping at his son's winery. They crushed 142 tons of premium Pinot Noir grapes. Jack, like a coin or stamp collector, had a keen interest in variations of some corkscrews produced by manufacturers such as Haff, H & B, Williamson, etc. read more
