Vintage Menuette Set Corningware Spice of Life pattern CorningWare: CorningWarewas originally a brand name for a unique pyroceramic glass cookware resistant to thermal shock due to sudden temperature changes. It was first introduced in 1958 by Corning Glass Works. It evolved from materials originally developed for a U.S. ballistic missile program, and Dr. Stookey's research involved heat resistant material for nose cones . A great example of space age technology being adapted for home use. CorningWare is notable for the fact that it can be used directly on the stovetop. CorningWare's oven-to-table service first featured the blue 'Cornflower' pattern decoration, designed by Joseph Baum, an artist at the Charles Brunelle Advertising Agency in Hartford Connecticut. It became the trademark of Corning consumer products for three decades. Following the 'Cornflower' pattern, many additional patterns were offered by Corning over the years. I am a loyal employee of the USPS, and will only use them for shipping. My recommendation is to always choose Priority Mail, as it will arrive in 2 or 3 days. Priority also flies and travels with primarily light weight items. Parcel Post may be available on some items, but can take 7 – 10 days to arrive, and travels by truck … so it travels with other heavy commercial packages and gets jostled around a lot. There is a lesser likelihood of damage with Priority Mail. Shipping and handling charges do include a small fee to cover packaging materials, such as sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, cushioning, tape, and gas to the Post Office.
