DAKOTA'S TREETo Benefit Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation This is an auction to benefit the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation . Being offered is a decorated, 6 ft. tall, white, artificial tree, as pictured. The tree is approximately 3 years old and was used only once. It comes with its original box, which says, " Noble Fir Holiday Tree". It was assembled for the just the 2nd time in order to photograph it for this auction. It is being called "Dakota's Tree", in honor of Dakota Bihn, a beautiful little 8 year old girl who has Tay-Sachs Disease. You can learn all about Dakota and Tay-Sachs Disease at: . The tree, as pictured, is decorated with a large assortment of children's toys (75 in all), starting with the Beanie Baby Halo, an angel bear, at the very top. All of the toy ornaments, (with the exception of Halo), are McDonald's collectible toys. They are all in like-new, excellent, unplayed-with condition. With the exception of 9 of them, they all retain their original packaging. (The 9 exceptions are: 4 international bears and 2 teenie beanie dinosaurs which had cardboard containers, 2 parts of the birthday train-a hot wheels toy and a Bugs Bunny/Daffy toy, and 1 piece of the Snow White and 7 Dwarfs set-Doc pushing a diamond cart.) I felt those without packaging should be included as they are in excellent condition and serve to complete sets (except the dinosaurs). Many childhood favorites are included in the 15 piece Birthday Train such as Kermit & Miss Piggy, ET, The Little Mermaid , Barbie, Snoopy , and Tonka Dump Truck, to name a few. The individual train pieces can be attached, have moving parts, and are just ADORABLE !!! The other toys consist of the Snow White and 7 Dwarfs 8 piece set, 8 Cabbage Patch Kids , 2 Bratz dolls , 3 Barbies, 1 Kelly, the 6 piece Baby Sinclair Dinosaurs set, 4 international bears, 2 teenie beanie dinosaurs, 8 miscellaneous toys, and 17 various teenie beanies, making a total of 75 toy decorations, including Halo. Except for the teenie beanies, the toys were attached to the tree with pieces of bridal tulle from my daughter. The new owner can use whatever ribbon or method of attachment they choose. The Teenie Beanies are are free-standing, sprinkled among the toys, on their own branches. The auction is scheduled for 10 days to maximize the donation. Please, if you visit this site, tell your friends and co-workers about this auction. Maybe some group out t would like to pool their resources by taking donations from their members and making one large bid to win this tree? I also thought it might be a nice idea if the winner of the tree were to loan it to a local children's hospital for the holidays. Or maybe the tree could be on display somew, like at a children's library w the individual toys could be purchased for a donation that could then be given to the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation. The toys could then be replaced with a craft decoration made by the purchasing child or another ornament. These are ideas for someone who doesn't need the tree and would like to see it continue to spread the word about DAKOTA and Tay-Sachs. Thank for your interest.
