You are bidding on an original 52 piece set of Holmes & Edwards Inlaid Silverplate in the DANISH PRINCESS pattern. (IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL PRICE TAG OF $68.00 IN 1937! THAT WAS A LOT OF $$$ BACK THEN!) This is a very desirable and popular pattern of the 1930's and later and is still very collectible today. This set is very well cared for and appears to have been used only on special occasions. It came from a very nice home (the estate also sold a very old and high dollar set of Noritake China (also from 1937). The one piece I cleaned, took very little effort and looks almost pristine. I notice no problems with the pieces except the normal storage and light use marks. If I didn't have a well-loved and much-used set already I would keep this one. The Holmes & Edwards International Silver Co. is unexcelled in silverplate. All pieces are plated on a high quality alloy metal with an EXTRA HEAVY DEPOSIT OF PURE SILVER. This exceptional set of silverware still has the ORIGINAL papers with it and explain how the inlaid process is done. The most used spoons and forks actually have blocks of silver inlaid at the points of greatest wear. "Holmes & Edwards inlaid will have no tell-tale wear marks to mar the original beauty..." T are: 8 knives, 8 forks, 8 salad/desert forks, 16 teaspoons, 8 oval soup spoons, 2 large serving spoons, one smaller serving spoon, and a butter knife. (See measurements below). The box looks to be original to the set; it is nice, heavy, all corners are finger-jointed, but t are scrapes & scratches on the outside. Though the inside is intact the light purple looks faded. It is labeled "Holmes & Edwards Inlaid". (NOTE: the ice tea spoons pictured are not being sold with the original set, they are being sold separately, see Check out my other items ! Shipping will be for the ACTUAL COST and I will go to all lengths to get this set to you as soon as is possible. You will $ave on shipping if you don't want the box. I estimate the set, box & all shipping materials to weigh 13 lbs or less. I have packed the box and set and it comes to just under 11 lbs. My zip is 37737. To CT ie., it is $14.50 priority 2 day (usps SAYS!!) mail. Without the silver chest it would be even less.
