You are bidding on an original 52 piece set of Holmes & Edwards Inlaid Silverplate in the DANISH PRINCESS pattern. (IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL PRICE TAG OF $68.00 IN 1937! THAT WAS A LOT OF $$$ BACK THEN!) This is a very desirable and popular pattern of the 1930's and later and is still very collectible today. This set is very well cared for and appears to have been used only on special occasions. It came from a very nice home (the estate also sold a very old and high dollar set of Noritake China (also from 1937). The one piece I cleaned, took very little effort and looks almost pristine. I notice no problems with the pieces except the normal storage and light use marks. If I didn't have a well-loved and much-used set already I would keep this one. The Holmes & Edwards International Silver Co. is unexcelled in silverplate. All pieces are plated on a high quality alloy metal with an EXTRA HEAVY DEPOSIT OF PURE SILVER. This exceptional set of silverware still has the ORIGINAL papers with it and explain how the inlaid process is done.
