At auction is a very fine British hallmarked .925 sterling demitasse set in it's case and dated 1852. Six spoons are in excellent condition showing little wear or scratching . Pattern from bowl stem is a bead up to a floral design , Baroque with small cartouche at top crest - non monogrammed. Bowls show evidence of gold wash - faded. Case is fine kid leather over wood with purple satin inside no tears , rips or apparent rot , really very good condition , silver plated brass latch intact. Spoons each marked " 925 - R ( as referenced) , lion facing left rampant , Sterling. "R" is precisely one found giving date of 1852 London Hallmarks 1 - Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks , R is script with open line down middle of left as shown , no doubt a match. Each spoon measures almost 10 cm ( 3 3/4" ) , case is 15 x 10 x 5 cm ( 6x4x2") each spoon weighing about two grams Excellent antique set that has found it's way to America in times past and is truly in fine condition for use or collection.
