T David White - Nautical Sextant1941 USN Mark II - Wooden Case The provenance for this sextant is the index arm which reads: 'U.S. NAVY, BU NAV., MARK II' follow by its serial number 'N (Circled) 9069 - 1941' and manufacturer 'David White Co. Milwaukee, Wis.' The last official US Naval Observatory inspection certificate was made in May, 1943 (noted as Black May) which concluded the shipping crisis in the Battle of the Atlantic. Since that time in history this sextant hasn't been idle. For the last 40 years it has traveled the West Coast aboard a variety of sail boats. It could stand a bit of polish and loving care but it is in good working order. This unit is all original with the same serial number N9069 on the box exterior, inspection certificate, on the sextant and etched on the wooden handle. The wooden case is in good condition with minor scuffs on the exterior edges. This sextant comes with an original screwdriver stamped "Millers-Falls" on the wooden handle. The manufacturer's name plate came off the box at some point but I'm including 4 vintage brass nails. The box has two nail holes beneath the handle for the plate.
