I am selling an extremely RARE Mad Piper Bill Millin (Deceased) who was the Piper of the 1st Special Service Commando Brigade, and was amongst the more noticeable men to land on the Normandy Beaches on the 6th June as he played the Brigade ashore with his bagpipes under enemy fire. Millin piped the commandos ashore to the tune of Highland Laddie and then at Lord Lovat’s request marched up and down the beach playing Road to the Isles. Later that day he led the brigade across Pegasus Bridge and crossed Ranville Bridge playing Blue Bonnets over the Border. Piper Millin’s story appears in the film The Longest Day and numerous articles online.
