A GREAT Find!! ... and in Absolutely PRISTINE Condition !!!BEAUTIFULLY PATTERNED!! Vaseline Opalescent ... ENGLISH ** SUGAR ** with SILVER COVER & SPOON!!It's Very Hard to Find old Opalescent Vaseline or Canary colored glass ... especially in this pattern, color, and condition!! Likely English in origin (where I purchased it from) and dating to the 1870s-1890s , this Beautifully covered Sugar is 4" tall to the stem handle on the cover, with a body diameter of approximately 3 3/4"; the spoon is 5 3/4" long. The Vaseline body with thin opalescence around the upper rim was blown and has a highly polished pontil mark on the underside. Interestingly, the spoon is stamped: "JEANJAQUET" and the only information I could find relates to it being Swiss in origin and--possibly--linked to a Swiss Castle. The top is highly detailed with a stem propping up a highly detailed leaf; it's nice and heavy and could likely be solid silver. This Sugar has Extraordinary delicate, Creamy GOLDEN Opalescence that Greatly accentuates this Rare piece!! In Superb condition, there are no chips, cracks, repairs, or staining. Under the Black Light ... this piece fluoresces Brilliantly!! If you are a collector of Hard-to-Find Victorian era colored Sugars, Opalescent glass, or of uranium colored Vaseline Canary Opalescent glass, and would like this BEAUTIFUL piece read more
