This auction if for a very rare and unique Dick Butkus football jersey. This Chicago Bears football jersey is incredible. Dick signed the jersey for me in person. His signature is absolutely perfect and he included the inscription "HOF '79. I acquired his signature at a Tri Star memorabilia show in Houston, Texas, a few years ago. Now, is the story on the jersey. While standing in line at the memorabilia show, a older bears fan told me that the jersey is very unique and rare. The jersey is made by Champion. Apparently, Champion used Dick's likeness on the attached tag without his permission. (In addition to his picture, the tag details his hall of fame career). Mr. Butkus was not too pleased with this and demanded that Champion cease making the jersey. Thus, t were not too many of these jerseys made, making it very rare. The jersey features all sewn and stitched on letters, numbers and logos. The numbers 51 are stitched on each shoulder. The official NFL logo (this one is oversized) is stitched on the back neckline. The original Champion tag is stitched in the neckline and the original store tag is attached. The Champion tag stitched on the front bottom of the jersey reads: NFL Throwbacks Vintage Collection Champion.
