This 1/12th slightly distressed cupboard bed has been designed and handmade by Gail at Victoria Hope Dolls. It is stained dark walnut. The bed measures-height-6 inches, width-6.5 inches, and depth-4.5 inches. The cupboard bed ( otherwise known as the box bed) was used from early times, so is suitable for tudor/medieval houses onwards, including cottages to manor houses. I read only a year or so ago that an old man who had just died ( and lived in a quite good old period house), slept all his life in the same cupboard bed! When I was making this bed I had a mishap with the glue, which luckily went over the back of the bed and me, and, as you know, it is difficult to get rid of glue stains and stain over them as well, and so I have reduced the starting price for this bed ( although as the back of the bed goes against the wall the glue stains will not be seen ) There are 4 drawers-2 false at the top of the front and 2 bottom drawers which open for spare bedding, etc. The bedding is handsewn by Gail and includes-- (1) a plumpy mattress covered with red/white mattress ticking (2) a white cotton bottom sheet (3) a top white cotton sheet (4) a plump pillow covered with the same cotton ticking as the mattress, and a pinky floral pillowcase ( can be taken off) (5) a floral cotton counterpane ( reversable) Please note the following read more
