You are bidding on the 1953 edition of A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture edited by Dom Bernard Orchard, et al. This is not the "New Catholic Commentary" but the original one recommended by Karl Keating in Catholicism and Fundamentalism : "The first thing, then, after securing one or more translations of the Bible itself, to buy is a commentary. Still available from used-book dealers is A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture , published in Britain in 1953 and using the Douay-Rheims translation. The editorial committee was headed by Bernard Orchard, and contributors included such men as B.C. Butler, Thomas Corbishley, C.C. Martindale, E.C. Messenger, and Hugh Pope. In addition to commentaries on individual books of the Bible, this work includes thirty-five articles introducing the Old and New Testaments and examining such topics as the synoptic problem, the various texts and versions of the Bible, proper interpretation, inspiration and inerrancy, and the geography and history of Israel." Keating then went on to knock the "New" commentary from the 60s, which had much information removed and a smaller editorial board, in favor of this traditional 1953 edition.Today this is a hard-to-find book.
