This is an original hand-coloured etching produced by hand using traditional processes and is on acid free Somerset paper with all the inks being lightfast. All my etchings are on copper and they are in a worldwide edition of 200 and are strictly numbered and signed by myself. The plate size for this etching is 2 x 2” and I mount them in an off-white mount with the overall size being 8.5 x 7” and they are ready for framing or as a rather unique present. All my etchings are produced by hand in my Beaconsfield Studio and come with a leaflet explaining how they are produced, as etching is an ancient craft and has its own unmistakable look. Dorothy ART FOR THE COLLECTOR ETCHINGS Etchings are formed by the artist drawing onto a prepared plate which is then immersed in acid. Ink is applied to the plate and then wiped off it remains in the grooves and cavities. Under pressure in a press, the ink is transferred to a dampened paper, which also receives the "plate mark" common to all intaglio prints. Dorothy was born in Liverpool, England and had received no formal training in fine art at the time she was first persuaded to commence selling her work commercially. However since becoming a full-time artist, she has found a continuous and ever increasing demand for her work.
