For your consideration is this magnificent and rare deluxe collector's edition, Dynasties by Edward L. Bowen-brand new! It is so special, I hardly know where to start! This volume is bound in warm tobacco brown bonded leather with gilt-tipped pages-a stunning coffee table book. The truest color is in photo #2. It fits into a protective bonded leather slipcase and looks beautiful on a bookshelf or table. What a great Father's Day present for the thoroughbred fan! The lettering on the cover and spine is printed in gold (there is a silk page saver) - a very handsome copy! There were only 250 of these very special and rare deluxe editions printed and sold-they are signed and numbered by the author-highly collectible because there are no more-it is out of print and it's a first edition! It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the president of Bloodhorse Publications attesting to the number of the edition (20/250-a desirable low number) and that this edition was signed and numbered by the author. "It is hereby certified that this book is number 20 of a collector's edition of 250 books, each signed and numbered by the author." In this very readable book, Eclipse award winning turf historian Edward Bowen examines the exploits and legacies of the 20th century's most influential sires including Bold Ruler and Princequillo who are Secretariat's sire and grandsire on his dam's side. There are many references to the great Secretariat in this book. This 260 page volume features so many amazing photos of the great sires, pedigrees, genealogical charts, references, index, descriptive text and a long list of illustrations-four sections of photographs and the author's biography! This great history of 24 select and influential sires and their offspring includes Northern Dancer, Bull Lea, Nasrullah and many more and a whole chapter on Bold Ruler, Secretariat's sire! Edward L. Bowen is an American Thoroughbred horse racing historian and author of 18 books, including four of the Thoroughbred Legends Series; He also penned Matriarchs- vols. 1 and 2, and Legacies of the Turf, named by ForeWord Reviews magazine as its Sports Book of the Year. He also won the prestigious Eclipse Award for Outstanding Magazine Writing. He is president of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation (funds equine research). His style of writing flows-organized and well worth reading and referencing. The forward is by Wiiliam S. Farish of Lane's End Farm and his breeding philosophy is definitely worth a read.
