Here is one of the earliest pieces of David Shaner that I have ever seen. It has been in my collection for years and it is now time to find a new home. Shaner had his first year at the Archie Bray Foundation in 1958 of which I believe this dates. The piece is unsigned, but has a tape label on the inside of the lid stating, "SHANER JAM POT 5.00". The piece is also marked with the early Archie Bray double beehive kiln mark impressed along the bottom edge. It measures 4" tall x 4 1/2" wide. It is in excellent, original condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches to the glaze. It has a very Japanese inspired sgraffito decoration on the side that flows like waves. Very Voulkos inspired lid with the thin knob finial as well. A rare find for any collection. Pictures should tell the story. Buyer pays $10.00 for shipping within the US. Thank you.
