This is a great looking & all original antique figural electric newel post lamp in classic Art Nouveau style & design. This is from 1910 era & is all cast bronze & metal. Lamp is entitled âeoeMuse Des Boisâe (Muse of the Wood)& depicts a bronze figure of a young woman entwined in floral vines with oak leaves and acorns that make up the 3 lamp arms. She has her original finish & detailing, gold-toned robe, etc. The metal flowers have original green finish, lamp is in excellent working condition (has newer cord thatâe(tm)s OK to use-this is missing an off/on switch that was mounted on the base). No breaks or damages to the casting & just normal aged patina & surface wear to the finish in a few areas...the center floral arm on the back is not attached to the body,looks like someone tried to attach it by using an epoxy at one time..does not affect its look or purpose... Figural lamps like these were usually found mounted on the newel post at the foot of a huge staircase in Victorian era homes, can be used anyw to make on impressive statement. No makerâe(tm)s names or marks,but its French,artist signed on base that looks like W.Lering....mounted on a wood base with faux marble decoration..... it measures 33" high to top of flower vine, 10" wide span.
