Beautiful older Makah figural basket in impeccable condition! This beauty measures 2" high by 2 3/4" wide and as you can see by the pictures it's colors are as bright as the day it was made. It is made in the characteristic Makah way by starting each piece with a cedar bark square (see picture) and weaving the basket from t using a wrap twining and diagonal twining technique. The lid is also reinforced with cedar bark which helps the lid fit correctly and provides strength to the basket. It has the theme of the Pacific Northwest (t be whales !) This wonderful basket is absolutely one of the finest Makah baskets I've ever seen!!!! If you want to own a piece of the great NW coast or a truly fine example of Indian basketry this is the one for your collection.
