This badge is attributed to the Norwalk Connecticut Fire Department. Norwalk organized its first fire company in December 1858 with the first fire engine arriving in April 1859.The construction of this badge is interesting. The base is a die-stamped shield, surmounted by high-eagle fire helmet and crossed trumpet and nozzle. It appears to be made of nickel with a pebbled surface. Then a brass banner with the name, "Norwalk" is applied to the upper portion. The number is also brass, contrasting with the body of the badge.Overall condition is excellent with the original pin and catch intact on the back. The dirt on the back could be easily cleaned if desired, but I always leave that to the new owner. Please note: I DO NOT ship badges internationally.
