RARE, Early soda bottle from Emmetsburg, in northwest Iowa. This 6 3/4" bottle is embossed in a slugplate S. SCHIRMER / EMMETSBURG / IA. and on the back heal is embossed in small letters W. F. & S. MIL 20 for the William Franz & Son glass co of Milwaukee, Wis, a rarely seen glass company. Sebastian Schirmer came to Emmetsburg around 1884 from Grundy Center w he had previously run a soda works. It is believed that he also used bottles embossed EMMETSBUG BOTTLING WORKS. The ones with his name seem to be harder to find and they are both rare. This bottle has no cracks or scrapes but does have mild wear aound the base and to lettering and bottle has a 1/4" thin flake to the side of the lip. Still a nice rare early collectible from northwest, Iowa. Emmetsburg is between Algona and Spencer ans south of Estherville and is near Ruthven, Osgood, Cylinder, Graettinger and Wallingford. Buyer pays $6.75 shipping and insurance is extra. Checks require 10 days to clear.
