This lovely set comes from the estate of Mr. & Mrs. J. Rothschild, neighbors and personal friends of mine, who gave it to me when their health was declining in the 1980s. It is a set of six with the original box for storage and tarnish prevention. T are six sterling cups and saucers and four Lenox inserts and two replacement inserts marked simply Germany. All of the sterling pieces have the Webster Company marking and sterling as does the inside lid of the box, see photo. The sterling pieces all have a light monogrammed capital R in cursive. I recall many evenings, after her famous beef Wellington, w we would have our coffee using this set and enjoying the view from their terrace. The sterling cups are 2 1/8 inches tall at the handles and with the porcelain inserts in they are 2 1/4 inches tall. The saucers are 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The porcelain inserts have a double gilt edge inside and out. T is a 1/8 inch key style rim to the cups and saucers. T is a double line indentation down the sides of each of the cup holders giving them a unique style and appeal. Three of the cups and saucers are in very good condition, no dings or dents.
