This is a strikingly simple sphericaldesign with opposing handles and a well-fitted lid topped by a plain functional knob. This is the creation of Eva Zeisel, one of the architects of mid century modern design in America. The item was manufactured by the German firm of Johann Haviland in Bavaria as part of the Eva white porcelain collection. Eva Zeisel (1906-2011) was a Hungarian-born American industrial designer known for her work with ceramics, noted particularly for her beautiful classic mid century modern designs that emphasized stark simplicity and fundamental functionality. The manufacturer, Johann Haviland Company, was founded in 1907 and eventually purchased by Richard-Ginori and then Rosenthal. Haviland china was manufactured in Waldershof, Bavaria, until the late 1980s. This item is in perfect condition, with little signs of use and absolutely no chips, cracks, hairlines, or discolorations. It’s a gem! And priced to sell!
